“Winnipeg, March/April 2020. A deadly pandemic is taking the world by storm, and overwhelmingly around the globe one message can be heard: Stay at Home!

To do our part we are self-isolating, maintaining social-distance, and for those who have been exposed, quarantining – all measures put into place to ‘flatten the curve’ so health care systems around the world can keep up with demand. Social gatherings have been banned, businesses and school campuses around the world have closed. The world as we know it has changed – almost all human interaction now takes place online.

Initially gearing up to present a different exhibition on-site at PLATFORM Gallery, the third-year Photo Projects class at the University of Manitoba has adapted to the situation by starting afresh with new individual projects addressing our COVID-19 situation, and by building an online exhibition with PLATFORM instead. The photographs included in this exhibition are a window into the personal experiences each artist has faced in an isolated moment in time.”
