In this workshop, participants will take to the Winnipeg streets to learn the ins and outs of street photography using Holga and Lomography cameras.  This experimental workshop encourages participants of any age or experience to begin observing and capturing the banal, the eccentric, the scenic. Using techniques like double and long exposure participants learn to compose, interact with a subject and layer imagery together. On the first day, participants will develop their film and on the second they will explore silver and Cyanotype printing, with the potential of a mini exhibition and final critique on the PLATFORM Members’ Wall.

Participants will need to bring their own camera or contact PLATFORM if they do not have access to a Holga or Lomography camera. All other materials will be supplied.

Michelle Wilson spent most of her formative years in southern Ontario. There she studied art and photography at several post-secondary institutions, including the University of Ottawa and the School of Photographic Arts: Ottawa.  Primarily a photo-based artist, Wilson has been creating intimate, narrative-based works for over a decade. Her work has been shown nationally, internationally and is part of numerous public and private collections. After working as an artist and educator in Taiwan for several years, Wilson returned to Canada to pursue her MFA at the University of Manitoba. She will complete her thesis exploring interspecies connections in June. She currently teaches at Art City as well as at the Winnipeg Art Gallery studio. Her varied bodies of work can be viewed at www.noneofitistruth.com.
